Background: Theta and Y are two college students from Xīndàlù, a metropolis that was built upon the ruins of western America and part of Mexico after climate disaster struck and caused massive ruin. The city is floating over the water and broken houses of the old land. The climate and everything is meticulously controlled by technology and the government. All the other continents have suffered similar atrocities so only some cities where they have found either technology or innovation to survive still exist. The government has preserved some areas within the new cities as Monuments of the Past (think visiting the Pantheon and Colosseum and old buildings in Rome). One of these preserved areas is the old city of New York City dubbed Ancient America because it’s one of the only places left from that time. Theta persuades Y to visit even though Y just wanted to go to tell their friends that they were there and for some cool virtual stuff.
